Sometimes, when I watch TV, I get distracted from the story by a piece of knitwear that captures all of my attention. If you like a drama with a ton of secrets and a lot of really cool knitwear, check out Smother. I watched it on Peacock.
Now for the Smother Cardigan. These aren’t the best shots because I paused the show to take a picture off the TV. That said, I love this sweater.

I’ve been thinking about how to make the most of the yarn in my stash. Color blocking will be one strategy I use to get the most out of my yarn.

I have some skeins that, by themselves, aren’t enough for a sweater, but if I combine them using color blocking, there’s more than enough yarn to make a sweater like this.

Am I looking to replicate the sweater exactly? No. I will include the elements of this sweater that I like best.
- Color Blocking
- Contrast Hems
- Pieced Raglan Construction
- All Over Patterning
- Split Hem
I’m going to have a think and look through my stitch dictionaries, I’ll let you know when I’ve put together a plan for bringing this cardigan to life.
For anyone that wonders how the show was–there were plenty of secrets and when the tea spilled it was piping hot.

Smother “follows the fortunes of the Ahern family – formidable matriarch Val and her three daughters – in the aftermath of the suspicious death of patriarch Denis, whose influence persists from beyond the grave.”
