A Summer of Stitching: Embracing 100 Days of Knitting

I often find myself buried under piles of yarn, needles, and half-finished projects. Despite my passion for knitting, I sometimes struggle to prioritize my knitting amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life. That’s why I’ve decided to take on the 100 Day Project, a personal challenge designed to help me get my knitting back on track. Over the next 100 days, I’ll commit to knitting every single day, embracing both the progress and the setbacks.

In a world filled with distractions and responsibilities, it’s easy to let creative work fall by the wayside. This project is my way of prioritizing my creative life, making sure I carve out time for what brings me joy and fulfillment.

The 100 Day Project is a creative exercise where participants commit to a specific creative activity every day for 100 days. It’s a journey of consistency, creativity, and mindful practice. For me, this project is about knitting – dedicating time each day to create, no matter how small the effort.

My 100 days of knitting will span from June 30, 2024, to September 23, 2024. Devoting my summer to this project will allow me to focus on making and nurturing my creativity during the long, warm days.

To keep myself on track, I’ve set a few simple rules:

Keep going if I miss a day: Life happens. If I miss a day, I won’t let it derail my progress. I’ll pick up my needles the next day and keep going.

Knit every day: Whether it’s a few minutes or a few hours, I will make sure to knit something each day.

Even one stitch counts: Some days are busier than others, and that’s okay. If all I can manage is a single stitch, it still counts.

To keep myself accountable and share my journey with you, I’ll be posting weekly updates on Fridays here on the blog. Each week, I’ll reflect on:

  • The number of days I knit during the week
  • How my knitting practice has been influenced by more consistency

I’ll also post on Instagram using #The100DayProject and my own hashtag #SummerofStitching.

If you’re interested in joining me or starting your own 100 Day Project, all you need is a creative goal and the commitment to work on it every day. It could be drawing, writing, cooking, or anything that fuels your passion. Share your progress on social media using the hashtag #The100DayProject to connect with others who are on the same journey.

Knitting is a meditative practice, allowing me to slow down and focus on the present moment. By committing to this daily practice, I hope to not only complete projects but also cultivate a sense of mindfulness and progress, one stitch at a time.

Join me on this 100-day knitting journey and let’s see what we can create together. Whether you’re a seasoned knitter or new to the craft, there’s something magical about making time for creativity every day. Let’s knit our way through the summer, one stitch at a time.

    crochetting also? Or only knitting?

I have a crochet project hidden away in my closet and a sashiko embroidery project lurking on a shelf. 🙂
